CREA, in partnership with Kenya Female Advisory organization Kenya Female Advisory Organization – Kefeado and Moving the Goal Post Moving the Goalposts Kilifiis working to advance adolescent girls sexual and reproductive health and rights work by infusing a more critical feminist agenda in their interventions. The partners attended the first discussion under this project, hosted by Moving the Goal Post called “Tumanyane” (debate/discussion) for the parents and guardians of the adolescent girls, the local leaders and CSOs in Kilifi North sub-county, Kenya. The discussion focused on the early pregnancies among adolescent girls in Matsangoni and the reason for their rise.
The facilitators included a more feminist outlook and analysis to adolescent pregnancies as well as passing feminist values to the participants in a very relatable and interpersonal way.
By linking feminist theory and practice, CREA’s hopes to build feminist leadership, advance women and girls human rights, catalyzes social transformation that challenge the norms and cultures on gender and sexuality that perpetuate stigma, discrimination and violence.
