  • USD 15k to 20kinvested per group
  • KES 800khighest group share-out
How we did it

Each group received between USD 15,000 and USD 20,000 to grow its economic activities, while the programme challenged the social and cultural barriers that keep women out of economic life.

KEFEADO connected the groups with national and county government institutions so they could tap into public initiatives, advocate for public investment and join cooperative movements. Through table banking and collective savings, groups reached share-outs of KES 250,000 to KES 800,000.

To open up markets, KEFEADO linked farmer hubs with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), creating routes to local, regional and international buyers.

ResultSustained livelihoods for 15 women's groups, stronger collective finance and new links to government programmes and markets.

The project also opened engagement with Kisumu County Government on implementing the Kisumu County Disability Act, pushing for equitable access to public resources and fuller participation of persons with disabilities in economic and civic life.

How we did it

KEFEADO led on gender equality and social inclusion, especially women's economic empowerment and the meeting point of gender and disability in the labour market.

ResultGender and inclusion leadership in a multi-stakeholder programme for fair jobs and labour-rights protection for women and persons with disabilities.
